Photography Services FAQs

Choosing a wedding photographer for your big day is a big deal. Here are some of the questions we get frequently asked about our wedding photography.

Wedding Photography FAQs

How do you approach our wedding day photography?

That’s a great question! Initially, I’m always aiming to document and anticipate the romantic and raw moments shared between the both of you, and your nearest and dearest with minimal intervention to truly represent the emotion of your day. Colour, light and texture have a focal influence on how I approach these images so that not only do I capture the magic for you, but it is taken in a way which compliments every aspect of that moment.

Secondly, through prior consultation, there will be some opportunities for some more ‘staged’ shots, more so utilising the available landscape and it’s features, either during the day or night, to provide you with some hero images which you’ll be proud to frame.

Over the course of the day I will document all the small details too, anything and everything that ties into what is individual to you, whether you are taking a traditional or non-traditional approach to your day, be assured that your photographs will highlight all that you make it.

How do you describe your style?

I’d go as far as saying my style is inspired by light, love and magic! I’m documenting the day in an unobtrusive manner which is balanced, true and authentic so all of the individual elements tell a story and ultimately evoke emotion again and again…

We have locked in our wedding date, how far in advance should we think about booking you and how do we go about this?
As I only shoot a limited number of weddings a year, as soon as you can! I receive many enquiries, usually months, sometimes even years in advance of the wedding date so the sooner you make contact with me the better your chances of booking yours truly! To start the booking process, contact me via the contact form and if the stars align for us, and I am available, then I will provide prices and packages for you to consider and start a conversation either online, over the phone or arrange a one on one wedding consult.
How do we secure you as our wedding photographer?
After you come back to me with confirmation you want me as your wedding photographer, I will send you both an online contract to read over and digitally sign, as well as your invoice to pay a 50% non-refundable deposit/retainer against. Once I receive both of these then you will receive notification that I’m exclusively yours for your wedding day!
We are so overwhelmed with the planning of our wedding, can you help??
YES! I get it. There are so many things to think about and most likely this is the first time you’ve ever had to! I can offer you unbiased advice, from the obvious to the little details you may have overlooked. After documenting over 100 weddings, I not only ‘know’ weddings but have a broad network of fellow suppliers I can highly recommend too. From the time you book with me, I’m here to support and help you both right up until the minute I leave you on your best.day.ever!!
We feel a little awkward in front of the camera…
I totally get this….every second couple we work with make mention of this too. After all it’s not every day you have a photographer following you around! While it’s my job to capture all the magic that unfolds throughout the day, I know it’s also my job to make you feel comfortable and relaxed so that all those special moments happen naturally. This day is all about you two, and the love you have for each other. I’m there to document this and while I will at times gently guide you to take advantage of the best light and scene, I will be as unobtrusive as possible so you hardly even know I’m there!
Would you consider holding a date for us tentatively?
You can ask, but in all fairness it’s a ‘first in, best dressed’ situation when it comes to bookings.
Are you able to customise a package to suit us?
Absolutely!! No two weddings are the same or couple for that matter!! Let me know what your perfect package is and I’ll quote you accordingly.
When is the final payment due?
Any outstanding amounts are due a week before your wedding day.
Is our deposit/retainer refundable or transferable?
No. With the exception of below…
What happens if our wedding date is effected by government mandates?
Only in dire circumstances out of our control and yours (such as a pandemic) will we consider honouring your deposit and transfer your invoice to a new date. We will go out of our way to try and coordinate with you and your other suppliers a date which works for everyone. Your deposit/retainer however is still non-refundable should you decide not to go ahead with your wedding.
Do you offer videography as well as photography?
No. I’d rather concentrate on doing what I do best and leave this to the professionals. Let me refer you to some of the best who I’ve worked alongside.
Can you ‘Photoshop/Retouch’ our photos?
If after the editing process, colour correction and removal of small imperfections you still aren’t satisfied, then yes I can. However you will incur an extra charge per image for this service.
Do we meet you before the wedding day?

If I haven’t already, I definitely encourage getting together to discuss the finer details of your day, and preferably at the venue you are getting married at. I’ll chat about your timeline, locations for your portraits, when golden hour is and any other ideas you might have.

How long do you stay?
I’ll stay as long as the package you book me for. This may be 2hrs right up to 10hrs. If on the day you feel you need more coverage then I might be able to help you out, don’t be shy, it doesn’t hurt to ask!
How far are you willing to travel?
I’ll go to the moon and back for you!! So pretty far, passport is at the ready!!
Do you charge for travel?

Yes, there is a travel charge for any booking that is outside 60km of 3447 where I’m driving to and from the venue. If the booking is for an interstate or international wedding then it will cost you the price of a return flight plus luggage costs. Depending on where you are having me, accomodation costs are negotiable.

What about formal family photos?
Yes I always make a point to our clients to allow some time for this, typically soon after your ceremony ends. I’ll ask you to provide us a list of compositions of family to tick off, and if possible pass on the responsibility of gathering your nearest and dearest to someone in the family who is familiar with everyone.
Can we request drone photography for our wedding?
Absolutely, DJ (the drone!) has seen his fair share of weddings and always comes along willingly. If there is time and the conditions are right to get airborne then lets get creative!! DJ is always handy for your group photo too without having to climb a tree to get a vantage point!
Do you offer wedding albums?
Yes I do, and can customise a truly bespoke keepsake for you. Either you can select the images which are included in your album or let me curate your story. I’ll then design a layout which utilises the layflat feature of our albums before presenting you with the first proof. I provide you two opportunities to make changes before I will charge you a small design fee.
When will we receive our photos/package?

I average between 6-16 weeks, depending on how busy my schedule is, to curate, edit and complete your magic! Your wait is also dependant on any extras such as albums or additional framed prints you have opted for before receiving them as these require your selections to complete. The sooner you do this the sooner you will receive your completed package.
If there are extenuating reasons I can’t honour a 16 week completion, I will keep you informed to give you a reasonable delivery date.

How will we receive our photos?

First you will receive an email with a password and link to your very own private online gallery. This is available to you and whoever you choose to share with for 12 mths from the date of your wedding. When your completed wedding package is shipped you will receive another email from us with a tracking number so you can monitor its status. Your wedding package will be carefully packaged so your precious memories arrive safely. I use Auspost and insure for damages equal to the replacement costs should anything unforeseen happen.

Can I use my complimentary pre-wedding session after the wedding, or exchange for a family session?

I GIFT my clients an engagement session because of how incredibly valuable it is for us to have time together before the wedding. It’s where you get to see how I work, get to experience how I guide you, and get to find out how FUN it really is to be in front of the camera. Of course, the bonus is that you DO get some great engagement photos, whether you need them, or not. And we get to meet before the wedding day rather than me, some stranger turning up to take emotional heartfelt and sincere photos of other strangers!

I don’t offer anything in its place (such as extra hours of coverage, etc) and it’s certainly not transferable. I’m just very passionate about getting the best results for you both and that tends to happen when I’ve met you before the wedding and we’ve made a connection. I mean, if you’re going to invest a good chunk of money into a photographer that you’re really excited about working with, you want to get the MOST out of your experience leading up to the wedding, and of course ON the wedding day, right?
