Photography Services FAQs
Choosing a wedding photographer for your big day is a big deal. Here are some of the questions we get frequently asked about our wedding photography.
Wedding Photography FAQs
How do you approach our wedding day photography?
That’s a great question! Initially, I’m always aiming to document and anticipate the romantic and raw moments shared between the both of you, and your nearest and dearest with minimal intervention to truly represent the emotion of your day. Colour, light and texture have a focal influence on how I approach these images so that not only do I capture the magic for you, but it is taken in a way which compliments every aspect of that moment.
Secondly, through prior consultation, there will be some opportunities for some more ‘staged’ shots, more so utilising the available landscape and it’s features, either during the day or night, to provide you with some hero images which you’ll be proud to frame.
Over the course of the day I will document all the small details too, anything and everything that ties into what is individual to you, whether you are taking a traditional or non-traditional approach to your day, be assured that your photographs will highlight all that you make it.
How do you describe your style?
I’d go as far as saying my style is inspired by light, love and magic! I’m documenting the day in an unobtrusive manner which is balanced, true and authentic so all of the individual elements tell a story and ultimately evoke emotion again and again…
We have locked in our wedding date, how far in advance should we think about booking you and how do we go about this?
How do we secure you as our wedding photographer?
We are so overwhelmed with the planning of our wedding, can you help??
We feel a little awkward in front of the camera…
Would you consider holding a date for us tentatively?
Are you able to customise a package to suit us?
When is the final payment due?
Is our deposit/retainer refundable or transferable?
What happens if our wedding date is effected by government mandates?
Do you offer videography as well as photography?
Can you ‘Photoshop/Retouch’ our photos?
Do we meet you before the wedding day?
If I haven’t already, I definitely encourage getting together to discuss the finer details of your day, and preferably at the venue you are getting married at. I’ll chat about your timeline, locations for your portraits, when golden hour is and any other ideas you might have.
How long do you stay?
How far are you willing to travel?
Do you charge for travel?
Yes, there is a travel charge for any booking that is outside 60km of 3447 where I’m driving to and from the venue. If the booking is for an interstate or international wedding then it will cost you the price of a return flight plus luggage costs. Depending on where you are having me, accomodation costs are negotiable.
What about formal family photos?
Can we request drone photography for our wedding?
Do you offer wedding albums?
When will we receive our photos/package?
I average between 6-16 weeks, depending on how busy my schedule is, to curate, edit and complete your magic! Your wait is also dependant on any extras such as albums or additional framed prints you have opted for before receiving them as these require your selections to complete. The sooner you do this the sooner you will receive your completed package.
If there are extenuating reasons I can’t honour a 16 week completion, I will keep you informed to give you a reasonable delivery date.
How will we receive our photos?
First you will receive an email with a password and link to your very own private online gallery. This is available to you and whoever you choose to share with for 12 mths from the date of your wedding. When your completed wedding package is shipped you will receive another email from us with a tracking number so you can monitor its status. Your wedding package will be carefully packaged so your precious memories arrive safely. I use Auspost and insure for damages equal to the replacement costs should anything unforeseen happen.
Can I use my complimentary pre-wedding session after the wedding, or exchange for a family session?
I GIFT my clients an engagement session because of how incredibly valuable it is for us to have time together before the wedding. It’s where you get to see how I work, get to experience how I guide you, and get to find out how FUN it really is to be in front of the camera. Of course, the bonus is that you DO get some great engagement photos, whether you need them, or not. And we get to meet before the wedding day rather than me, some stranger turning up to take emotional heartfelt and sincere photos of other strangers!
I don’t offer anything in its place (such as extra hours of coverage, etc) and it’s certainly not transferable. I’m just very passionate about getting the best results for you both and that tends to happen when I’ve met you before the wedding and we’ve made a connection. I mean, if you’re going to invest a good chunk of money into a photographer that you’re really excited about working with, you want to get the MOST out of your experience leading up to the wedding, and of course ON the wedding day, right?
